The map for this week has a World Gap of 500 (small) and the site distance is set at 1.11 for a max view of 240 yards.  The map is within the settings that I would consider a tournament map. There is no way you can tell unless you make maps and use the editor to measure the game map width and setting to determine the World Gap size.  A map this hilly could have been set at say 1.29 to give you 280 yards of sight, at 1.11 it is a bit more challenging.  This map is good example that small maps can be a challenge and Weatherby did a good job making it.

Mossyback I know very good real hunt, because I am and I was a real hunter for over 50 years and I can say you that I (and all) never go hunting with a .207 or with a .223. In real hunt is strictly prohibited hunting with that caliber. You're right JJ. The size doesn't count so much, it's the distance view that count. But that's only a game and should be fun, with realistic maps with open flats and some trees, like the IOWA map.  Smiley Smiley

I would rather not keep repeating the same issues but the fact is, we can't hunt Iowa every week. I too have hunted for over 50 years and I have yet to have a shot over 100 yds. because of the terrain. Many areas do not allow rifles at all because of population density. Some areas only allow shotguns or bows. If your hunting area is such that you can see for miles and use a tripod to take 500 yd shots, good for you. Everything can't be directed to what one or two people like. My point being, we all hunt the same map and use the same weapon if specified. This is how it should be, if this weeks map gives someone else a little advantage, good. Maybe next week it will be a map you like.

I don't want to say that Mossy. I was saying that in my country and in ll Europe this caliber and all bows are prohibited. But that's not the problem. And the max. distance shot i did i think it was 200 yards not more. Long Range hunting is prohibited, like the tripod. I was saying that IOWA is one of the original real places, with that flats and trees. Undecided

Jesse has offered a common sense, logical solution to the map issue: but I think the problem is deeper than that. I have some suggestions for those who still aren't happy:

1. If you only know one tactic and it isn't working, find a new tactic or DON'T PLAY.

2. If you feel you "HAVE TO WIN" every week you have a problem, seek counseling and DON'T PLAY.

3. If you can't lose graciously and congratulate the person who beat you fairly, instead you whine, pout, and generally make a fool of yourself with "sourgrapes" and excuses. DON'T PLAY.

4. If there is a conflict between your work and the game, your work is more important. DON'T PLAY.

Finally, we can all learn a great lesson in life from this situation:
"THE SUN DON'T SHINE ON THE SAME DOG'S BUTT ALL THE TIME.....

My last post was not directed at any one person, so please don't take it personally. As for the number of hunters, look to see who is missing and try to find out why. I think they all accept pms, ask them. Some got tired of seeing the same person win every week, I'm sure. Maybe that's why this map issue came up in the first place. DH04 and TH03 are down to two hunter's each week. Why? In the immortal words of Mick Jagger, "You Can't Always Get What You Want"....

I think that DeerKileers is right. The question is how we can to make more players in hunt. I think this not to be happened with difficult conditions and maps. I don`t care how difficult is map or conditions, I have all the time in the world to play. I don`t like to be first among 6 people, I like to be 8 among 50 people. Then for me I will be winner. Who wants challenge  - take a spear and go to real hunt. The game should be pleasured for everyone. That is my opinion.

The discussion borne the true.

1.  There have always been complaints since the site started, about small maps and the fact that some will just keep reloading to find big deer. - Not everyone wants to hunt in that manner and if we always use small maps, then we are not being fair to the ones who want to participate and actually hunt.

2.  The number of hunters always fluctuates and a good number of them come and hunt a couple hunts, and see the same people win consistently, ask for big maps, not get it and leave.

3.  The only ones I have seen complaining about not using small maps, not having time to hunt, etc. etc., are hunters who are usually at the top of the results?  No Time?

4.  Hunting a larger map makes no difference, in fairness, if everyone is hunting the same map.

5.  The only people hurt by this are the map makers who have hours and hours in making small maps, that is why there will still be some small maps on occasion.

6.  There were only a few voters, compared to the number of registered users and only 25% of those users wanted small maps. The site is geared for everyone, not geared for a select few.

7.    The staff has a lot of time into this site, all of them!!!  We are not going to be known as a "Reloaders Site"
