Ok thanks, will give it a try. :)

Think I got it now, thanks for your kind help  Very Happy  But the .207 is - as Vider said earlier- really like throwing stones at a brick wall...

It really is weak at range, but in order to save some minutes running around after the animal take one or two shots at a closer range, like 300 yards or even closer.  I've found this to speed things up quite a bit.  Most animals go down in 3 or 4 shots total and with the final shot at 495-499 yards they don't run far before going down.

Now, if I could only find a steep slope on the maps to lure them to... Could get a few yards more.    Very Happy

On a side note:
I've had some strange spawn patterns on these maps (especially the New Aussie map) after I was told that no half racks or spikes would be valid for submission.  Except for three or four small bucks all the bucks I have seen so far has been spikes and half racks.
Either I am cursed or there is some kind of conspiracy going on!   Shocked    Laughing

Then we must share pretty much the same fate. No spike or halfrack flood on my side, but I could easily win a smallest buck contest... Sad

Those 4 in the tail section were hits numbers 2-5 and still not the lethal one...So much for that theory  Very Happy

But of course you're right, wounding and letting them run is definitely the winning point.

I always take a couple of shots at close range.  Then when it gets out there, I finish it off.

Laughing   Well, unless you are Ray I didn't expect you to do the butt shot extravaganza.  I might have been a bit general in the previous post, but I do place my shots in the area of the lungs/heart to my best ability.  I.e. - no buttshots.

Have killed 5 at 495 - 498 yards so far and none took more than 4 shots to down. A couple had a neck/head shot as well as shots to the lung/heart area and I believe those were the ones that dropped after the 3rd shot.

Nice WR by the way - grats!

No pun intended Ray - just stating the obvious..  Very Happy

I usually try that as well but that was my first kill with the .207 and a differently aligned reticle. 1st shot pierced an ear, then the buck turned of course and I emptied my magazine. Then it suddenly turned sideways and I placed a shot in the lungs region. I haven't wanted this to be a distance shot because of the fear of not finding it later on Wink

Nope, Ray, you will forever be the KING OF THE BUTT SHOT!!!!!! Although from the looks of that buck in the previous post, you may have some competition..... Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

I give him a 9.8 for technical execution, and a 9.9 for artistic appeal........

Well then, as the title "King of Butt Shot" is already taken, how about crowning me as "King of Leg Shot"?  Very Happy
