I fell through the map this past week or weeks past before, IDK why. I only previewed the map so far, I'll hunt it tonight hard, If I have problems with it, I change it. If any one else is having problems also, please post

It happened to me a few times (maybe 5 - 6) in all the maps that have water. It's because you "fall" into the water.

There are some maps that have holes in the texture layer. They can be anywhere on a map (I don't think water has anything to do with it.) If you fall through, you just have to hit escape and start over. This is one of the things you look for when testing a map. The mapmaker would have to fix it and resubmit the map for use.

If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch...

I need to know by tomorrow evening at the latest if this is a small or big problem with this map. If a lot of hunters tell me they are falling through, I will add a second map to hunt on as an alternative. So far Doc is the only one with issues. If you are having problems, please post.

Maybe you're right Mossyback. I thought it was in the water only, because everytime I "fall" I am in the water.

LogJumper here,

Don't know about 'Blacktail Highlands' map, but have run into that problem with several other maps for DH2004 and DH2005. Like you said though, you just have to quit the hunt and start over, though if it gets too bad (for me,anyway) I put that map into a 'unusuable map' folder and don't use it any more. With several hundred maps to choose from, I don't really worry about one to two 'bad maps Except for the maps used in the 'hunts' of course.. LOL

Haven't downloaded that map yet;haven't had time.  Too busy picking fresh strawberries this morning  Very Happy  And , boy are they good...

Better get out of here for now. Luck to all in the hunts.

If there is a hole in the map, I have not found it yet.  I have never seen a deer fall through the level on load either, however I have see them fall through the level if you shoot them off the mountain slope.  If you load on a steep peak in the level you can fall though, as the level grid squares are stretched, and for some reason that happens.  The smoothing tool in the editor will get rid of the peaks.  So far I have had nothing out of the norm happen on the map, other than not being able to see a nice buck.

Jesse, thanks for that info! Doc I noticed that you have your ground objects on high. Go into your setting and change it to LOW, and you will have better line of sight when you hunt. It takes away all that grass, you will find your deer easier when they die too!  Smile

With Ground Objects on LOW is pretty easy tracking, stalking and finding your deer.
So far the map works good to me...

now i know what has been happening. i have come across the problem of "falling in a hole" serveral times, on serveral differant maps in the past. thought the map maker had a sence of humor and put in 'traps'................. Laughing
