I think the first road block for most Virtual Deer Hunters is, "Can my PC handle the games graphics"? If the answer would be no, the conversation would end there Now a yes answer brings you to this next cross road, Do I pay or not? If not hunting the same map with the same rifle never knowing what you killed gets boring in about 1 month, give or take a month LOL! If you pay for it, it brings you to my next statement, Can I get in the server? They seem to have resolved this problem, but still report it with numerous other bugs that had not been fixed yet to date. Needless to say you pay, you get 3 weapons & 3 animals and in three months your probably bored again, because you still don't know what you are killing? LOL A friend of mine said "I don't want to lease the game, I want to own it!" I think that's a get point, Just finish it and sell it out right. Provide 1/4ly or semi annual patches / updates & I think it might catch on.
Back to your original question, the forums are dead because you can only play the game so long till you find something else that is less time consuming just to kill 1 deer. |

Wow did you even read the update?
Im not trying to be an ass at all but everything you stated is being worked on, yes right now they get the benefit of me believing issues are being worked on. A new help forum today went up pointing out a lot of things they know and are working on.
I just cant understand the resentment of this game and most seems to come from the older hunting game followers?
I admit when I first got into details my first thoughts were "monthly fees for a hunting game?" My god if every fan of hunting sims bought in they would still not make enough to cover costs, the genre does not have a large enough fan base. Thus we see huntermate and throw in the sandbox part (missions, goals) to appeal to the audience that buys PC games teens and hardcore gamers.
I just think to many have written it off way to soon, the goal has always been realisim of these games, today we find they have revamped the male deer models, that is unheard of in the past. Those games were done 90% before testing was even started, developers would even point out this when betas arrived, test whats there and report back.
Hell I may be wrong and if so in a few months I may be eating all this, time will tell. But to simply stand up and shout "this is the way it needs to be" without even seeing whats in store in the next few months is rather silly.
Games get old, people move onto the new all the past have and yes in the future this game will also.
It still frustrates me that the deer hunter game followers have such a negative outlook on this game?
Maybe its just the soft spot I have for the community fan base, maybe I am the one who should not look back |

Ok here are my two cents or three. There hasn't been a new build on the game since January 31st. A lot of the same issues are still in the game. One weapon? You have got to be kidding me right? I still can't stand the way the deer look or walk. Add more areas to hunt.(not just promise to) If I want to walk around the same area and see the same stuff, I can go in my backyard.
I was thinking about this the other day. They should have put this game on disk and then added patches, which you had to pay for. I have spent the better half of the last month playing Joint Operations. That game is over 5 years old, yet tons of people are still playing it. I think one of the reason it is still being played is for 1) coop or multiplayer 2) lots of different mods to keep it interesting 3) different maps. There are others but I think these can be applied to the hunter for comparison.
As for the deer hunter crowd having a negative view on this game, I would have to disagree. Yes there are some of us who aren't to thrilled about it but you will only see those opinions on sites that allow you to express your views on a game. If you post one negative comment at the hunter forums, you are tarred and feathered. I also can't stand the fact that when people have issues with the game they are directed to support. Sure that is fine but post how they were able to resolve the issues.(if it was on the user end).
People can say that these guys are the best bunch of dev's and so forth but until I see some changes I will keep playing JO. |

I was involved and see what goes on. I was playing the game when most were still wishing for an invite. |

No its not still in beta. And if it were, do not release a game that did not have all of the kinks worked out. |

Sorry! I noticed it only now! I thought that it was in beta after reading a few posts at the hunter forums. |
