Jesse James done & excellent job on Snowbound. One thing I quickly learned is the deer (most of the time) die standing up. I was shooting at a doe for at least 15 minutes, It never moved, I thought it was stupid. I was the stupid one, it was already dead! That's when I learned they die standing up. Just thought I would pass it along. Good luck hunting open site madness this week, enjoy---  Ray ---

I think I hunted "snowbound " before and it is a fun map ! Use your GPS and when the deer falls over in the deep snow and disappears, you just have to go in that direction (if you don't get disoriented)until you hear the big WHOOSH(hopefully) and there it is . Laughing  Very Happy  Confused  Shocked  Smile  Rolling Eyes

I have shot deer and never taken the scope off the spot where they fell. I then walked straight to the spot and  didn't find them. The snow is so deep in spots, you can stand right on top of the deer and no "whoosh". They're gone. I lost a 208 guess World Record like this. The GPS is not always the answer.

If you low crawl in the snow, is your line of sight any better down under? Is there any way you can submerge yourself (like going underwater) in the snow?

Jesse, this is a butt kicking map!

There is no way to crawl in the snow and you can not go down under.  The layer that you can walk on is a hay bale object scaled to the full size of the editor level raised above the layer with a white  colored texture.  The deer can go through trees and other objects and you can not, therefore the deer are on the level below and you are on top of an object. There is no way to go under as you can not go through the hay bale object.  What I should do is lower the hay bale just a tad, if I can find the editor file that I used to make the map, that way the deer would not be so far below the bale object when they fall through. Don't ask me why they get caught in the bale object most times, but I have seen deer in a regular map that were shot going through a tree do the same thing, they get stuck in the object. There are not many places on the map that you can not pick them up, two that I know of are in the south east and mid west.  I would suggest, if you see a monster in that part of the map, push him to another location and then shoot him so he freezes solid with his tail sticking straight out for you to hang your hat on..

I like the map the way it is, Jesse ! What I really need is  (1) snowgoggles and (2) a  good hounddog to sniff out the deer ! Just kidding ! I lost a few too but I'm getting better with the open sights and the bullet cam works good when you hit them right on! Just glad I don't need snowshoes. I'll hang my touque on the next one I shoot !Good Hunting ! Laughing Smile

To the left, click on current hunt in the DH2005 menu. You will see Snowbound, hoover your mouse over it & click on it. It will that you to the download. Once downloaded you then have to extract it & send it to your custom levels folder. Good Luck, & if you have more questions find me in Team Speak or post back
