One of the annomilies with the 207 is that the impact point on the trajectory is the same at 400yrds and 500 yards.
Another option is to use any standard reticle or the open sights and set the range to 0. The 207 will then be set to shoot at 400/500 yrds.
It is also probably the most innacurate calibre so grouping of the impact points is never consistant. Some of our long time hunters maintain that wind direction and strength in game will also affect the impact point.
It takes a lot of time and game skill to set up a 500 yard kill and complete it. It can only be done with the 207 on maps with a veiw distances of 500yrds and more.
Every time you hit the deer he will run and you will have to find him again and go through all the trouble of setting up the 500 shot again , in the hope that this time he will fall over. Getting in the first good shot at close range and hoping it dosnt kill him, will reduce the number of 500 yard shots that will be needed to accomplish the objective..
