I've been spending a lot of time again mapping, of course it's a slow process when you're trying to re-create an area and also when you're struggling with things not working the way they are suppose to.  Laughing

When it comes to dynamic objects, is there a limit to how many different ones you can add to a map? I know that there is a limit on the amount of ground textures and regular objects.

Secondly, is there a way to expand the little window in the editor so you can actually see which file names you're currently using? For example, I have 10 or 11 different dynamic objects in place, but I want to change the settings on a couple of them to improve performance. However, after about the 5th one, I can't remember which order I added them so it's very difficult to tell which is which. Any suggestions? Thanks for the advice!

welcome to the club of map making headaches  Laughing  Laughing

use note pad and write your selections down.  I am not sure about a limit , I think only limit is amount vs FPS rate

Open your map folder, double click dynamicObjs.txt and that should show you the order

In Your Dynamic objects window click right on one of the dynamic blocks you have created, there you can edit your name for each block instead of guessing what you have in it.   for example if you put sticks in one dynamic object just put sticks in the block name.    Just right click on "edit name"
and it will open up and tell you the name,  set your cursor after the name so it remains the same when you hit enter again. I found this to be fast instead of hitting the true option to find out which dynamic object disappeared from the map.  If you do this in the first place you will never have trouble finding the one you want....... piece of cake........good luck  ...............GAS56

Sorry for not answering your full question,, but here it is .........You can put a lot of dynamic objects in a map but watch out for quantity of an object,  this is where a an "FPS"  program comes in handy when you are making a map because you can watch the Frames Per Second while you are editing,
but a rule of thumb is use the objects moderately,   a faster map works better then a lagging map.  Too much "dynamic Grass object quantity" or whatever it is that slows it down makes for a crappy map. Just one dynamic object can slow down a map with too much quantity. For the overall purpose of everyone to play the map all computers are not created equal and do not perform well if they are a slower machine.  I have a good computer but still will never make a map that won't run good on slower machines.   Check on performance of the map after trying a lot of quantity on dynamic objects and see what you think?.......good luck.................GAS56
