So I've been running Windows7 Pro and I continue to struggle with stupid administrative privileges messing up files when I try to load them in the editor.

Here's what happened today, I put some custom objects in a custom folder inside my current map folder that I'm working on, when I try to load the object I get the same problem as mentioned in the mapping forum where Win7 adds additional characters on to the end of the file so they won't open.

I tried changing the properties and privileges of the folder and all that's contained in it to make it work and still nothing. I then went into users and removed my user account from the users group and left it in the admin group only, and still nothing.

If I'm the only one ever using this computer, is there any reason why I can't just log in as administrator and also run that way? Being a Mac guy, I just can't get my head around why a person can't just drag and drop, copy and paste, and have everything work the way it's suppose to.

UPDATE: Actually, logging on as admin didn't fix the problem. I did get it to work finally after over an hour messing with it. I had to navigate to each file, right click on them, change the security to allow full access to my user account. What a pain...

Sorry to hear of you woes.
Im running W7 Home premium and it has run ok from the day I started it. I can only imagine that W7 Pro must have tighter security protocols and that is what caused the problems.
Only thing I cant figure is why it wont let me delete some files of the hard drive in the program files 86.
Oh well, hasnt been an isue yet but I think it will be permissions as well.

Ps
Sorted out my problem.
I hadnt bothered to put a password on my account as im the only one using this com. It appears that, no password,(Admin or not) , W7 wont allow you to delete anything on the hard drive.
