In the real world, when it rains & snows, you are  able to move through the woods quietly. For this weeks hunt (DK's 2nd day hunt), if I set the server for rain, will it allow use to get any closer? Or does the AI of the deer not understand the bad weather?

In the virtual game, the deer cannot hear. It's the distance and the fustrum that causes them to run when you get within a certain distance or the wrong wind direction. The only thing setting to bad weather does is reduce your visibility.... They also don't feel pain, and if you shoot a deer, it could possibly come back in the very next load. They don't actually die.

I do not understand "Fustrum"? So the deer are deaf, cool. So they spook on motion and your scent? One more question. Whats the best wounding shot, that allows you to run up to them the closest & kill them? All help this week is greatly appreciated. Smile

It's the same thing with the calls. it's all programmed into the game for them to respond. We are dealing with electronic impulses and micro chips.

The best wounding shot I've found is in the hip, anything further forward, you may kill them immediately.

Frustum Multiplication effects the sight distance you can see in game, it is a setting in the editor.  Frustum disturbance between two objects in game, as for instance a deer and you, has a setting also. Deer can not smell you, but receive the disturbance signal when you are close enough which causes them to run the other way.  They do not hear either, when you use a call, it gives them a positive frustum  signal, so they come your way. If you hit the squiggle key below the Esc key on your key board, while in game, and type   /cheat daredevil   this will disable the frustum disturbance and you can walk right up to the deer.  You will not be able to pick them up if you shoot them though.

Easy now, it's JJ's choice if he wants to share his hunting secrets or not. You can't demand anything.
Why do you need JJ anyway, Blitzking is more than happy to teach you.

No secret now, Blitzking is right, that's how it is done.  The trick is to wound them at 30 yards, just above the knee of the right or left front leg.  Jump up fast and run up to them and place the killing shot at 1 yard just before they fall.

Nothing wrong by telling new hunters how to get it done Blitzking, it's OK.  I'm sure you knew about the wounding part also.  I learned something new last week, how to crawl (shrimping) up on a deer.  That is what makes the game fun, learning new things to do.

Laughing  plenty of tension, Razz  had another buck and a few does come in the area and kept getting in the way. Mad  now if i could learn how to get the rask of my belly, i'll be o.k. Rolling Eyes
