Does anybody know how to keep Windows Live from starting up with the PC?
I have tried to disable it several times. It always puts itself back on the start up configuration in msconfig. That thing takes too long to load. That is why I have been trying to keep it from starting with Windows. It just puts itself back in the start up programs every time I use it. It's getting very annoying. I don't want to uninstall it, just stop it from starting when windows starts.  Rolling Eyes

Open the Start menu and click on Run.
In the command box enter "services.msc".
   Click the Ok button.
Find Windows Live Messenger in the list it gives you and double click it.
When it asks for the Startup type change it to Disabled.
   Click on the stop button.

That worked.  Very Happy
I had to re-enable the sign in assistant. Without that, it won't log in.

If it happens again you can go to the tools menu on messenger live then go to "sign in" & uncheck "Automatically run widows live messenger when I log on to windows."
Most applications have this option & most ask if you want the program to run on start up during installation. It's a good idea to keep as many items off of your start up menu as possible because having unnecessary items will slow your computer down.
