I made a amazing discovery as I was making a new map for DH 2005 by a chance bo bo.

I can now add what has always stop me from getting terrain to look as real as possible .

Shadows were they are needed that will give the look of say a canyon sunshine on one side and shade on the other like it is in real terrain.

I have not got it down pat yet but I will , take a look at snap of terrain canyon that
I have not fine tuned yet and tell me that dose not look great.  Very Happy

OMG, Really nice Slayer. It almost looks like maybe a big cloud blocking the sun too! Great detail. Smile

Looks like one of two things to me. Number 1) You put some color in the ColorMap.png or Number 2) You used the light files, that were run, from another map folder. ┬áIf I had to bet money on it, I would go with Number 1. In a winter map I have put one small square of red in the ColorMap.png to simulate blood in the snow, the trick is to know where to put it so it comes out in the right place, ColorMap.png is inverted in game.  If you want some neat ground coloring effect in a map, just run the lights as normal with the settings change to 40/10 then replace all the even numbered light files with lights run from another map.  Where trees were in one map, they are not in another, therefore you will get the effects of shadows on the ground in places.

Just moving a few trees around in a problem area or reducing the sight distance 10-20 yards will help to increase the fps and reduce the lag.
