I'm interested in what types of strategies ppl use to find the biggest deer.  What time of day do you hunt?  What lures do you use?  What does your hunters spec look like?  What season do you hunt in?  Do you stalk your prey or sit in a stand all day and wait?

Some may differ with their opinions on this but I think Jesse James had the best piece of advice. " The deer can't tell time on the game."  Hunt at noon when the sun is at the highest.

Quote:

I would suggest using your rattling horns and either the e-caller or the other calls.

You will get varying opinions on this as well.  One thing I think everyone will agree on is to make sure your presence is at 100% .  This will give you the most accurate hunter guess.

topher032, Welcome to the best hunting site on the net! Hunt on expert mode only. You will see the world record bucks then. Max out presence, stealth, & strength. Stalking deer? That depends into how you like to kill them. I prefer to engage from a distance, no stalking required! BNB A great bow hunter, stalks & kills them with his compound. Weather you stalk or shoot them from a distance, this game is guarantee to bring hours of fun. Good Luck, And Happy Hunting.

As magnum said, midday, clear weather and expert mode are best. Hunt in rut and use the antlers, buck grunt and doe bleat.
Scents, food and electronic calls are a waste of time in DH05. Aimlessly wandering about the map is also a waste unless you're a LB. Pick a spot and stay with it. If you don't see anything in a reasonable time, load again in the same spot. To get the big ones, you have to put in the time. 30 minutes a day won't get it. It's like fishing, you have to keep your line in the water.....lol

If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch...

Magnum is right, the deer do not know what time of day it is. You can see better in the clear weather setting also.
There is only one way to hunt with a bow in a woods with lots of trees, hunt the same spot for about 5 minutes by setting up your stand and call, call ,call.........Keep an eye on the wind stock if one is coming in, know ahead of time if it is clockwise or counter clockwise in motion.  Sometime you have to make a fast decision to move and set up in another spot to be down wind.  I have not seen one WR yet this week, maybe in the next 1000 rattles, lol.  After hunting the same spot for a time, you will know where the deer will go when coming in, they all take the same path, even though a path is not there. But if the wind is not in your favor, he will run off.

Aleah, (ARZ2001) took a WR 211 typical 2 days ago with her compound, by the lake in The Winter Retreat Map. The sad thing is her game ate the trophy again! This is a problem that plaques her game since I loaded it on her PC. Any answers or help is Most Greatly Appreciated  Sad

I would try deleting some of her trophies. I think you said before, she shoots everything she sees and if your trophy room gets too full, it can cause problems.
Another thing to try is to go out of the game as soon as you take a trophy and export it and take a screenshot. Don't wait till later.

Ray, did you create a new .pro file? Maybe it's a corrupted profile.
Just got my first WR in The Winter Retreat map, and near the lake too! That place is really good.
It's a nice NT, 238.

"Maybe it's a corrupted profile."

Can you have a profile that's corrupted, but is still playable in Game?

Yes, I had one. The game sometimes crashes, and everytime "cleans" the trophy room...
