Now I assume DH2004 maps won't work in 2005? I just wanna know for sure, or if there is a way to "convert them" because I really want the Vancouver Island custom map on DH2K5. Thanks for the help!

talk to Danthemanboone. But since it is a custom map permission is probably needed from the original map maker.

The 2004 maps will not run in 2005.
They have to be remade with the 2005 editor.
The 2004 Hi field and texture files can be copied and used in 2005  and the dynamic objects are all available in the dh2005 hybrid patch.
The files for the trees, and the settings for the auto placements are unknown. Also the tree density file are in a different format on 2004 and 2005 so the trees have to be placed by hand, which is a time consuming operation.
You need to have both editors open to place the trees in as near to the original as possible, its mostly guesswork.

I converted two maps, ( Alberta and Kansas) and am working on a third, (New Hampshire) and already wish I had never started it.
I have the vancouver map so I could have a look and see what would be involved in copying it over to 2005.
I am not expecting to start or finish any new maps in the immediate future.

Meanwhile have you seen and tried the map, Vancouver Island Rail trail, in the DH2005 hybrid Blacktail section, or if you really want a challenge Try Paddys Regret (blacktails) also in the same section.
