Got a question or two about creating a custom firearm in DH2005.. Probably answeered this many a time before, but here goes.....
Finally got DH2005 up and running today and thought I'd try my hand at designing a custom rifle for myself. Got it going pretty good (Ithink) but can't seem to change the color of the stock. Downloaded a few custom wood files, but don't know how to use them, also don't know  how to change the ballistics (if possible). Am trying to customise a 30.06 bolt-action. Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks  for all the help so far.... Smile

Do you have team speak capabilities? This would help greatly in resolving this. Go to gear , custom, select "New" then name the weapon & press enter on your key board. then adjust your round, calibration, weapon stock color design, scope, ect... hope that helps a little. Good Luck, post back if you still have problems or find me in team speak.

If you use custom skins, you need to save the zip folder to desktop.  Then just drag them into this folder :C:\Program Files\Atari\Deer Hunter 2005\Game\Weapons\Skins    After you do that open your game and create a custom weapon like rez said.  You should see the custom skins there.

Magnum1973,

Yes, that helps me a little. I got that far (creating a new firearm, that is), but when I try to put it (the wood pattern) in the skins folder, it doesn't show up. There are two folders showing; camo and details and am not sure which one to use.

While I'm asking about that, another thought came up...sometime back ( a year or two, I think), somebody came up with a tutorial that showed how to  customise the stock and other items using PaintShop Pro using templates. Does anyone out there know what I'm talking about? I thought I had the info saved somewhere, but can't find it...LOL

Anyway, sorry for making this message so long and tkanks for all the help again. Smile

The custom skins go in the camo folder.   Maybe we can get our good friend blitzking to make a tutorial? Very Happy

The weapon's customization tutorial is in your DH 2005 folder in a folder named tutorial. You can make your own custom skins, it's not that complicated. Just follow step by step. With a little practice, you can even customize your scope reticles.

Thanks go to both you and Mossyback Moe (?) (hope that's right LOL)for the info. Think I got that one right, finally....
Will check the Editor file, didn't look too close on that one, for sure.

If I come up with an unusual combo, think I might share it , if anybody would be intrested that is....

BTW, Magnum1973, did you get those map files yet? Hope so, if not, will try again ok?

He's talking about how to change the caliber of his weapon in the game, and he wants the weapon customization tutorial  which is already in the DH 2005 folder. He wants to make his own skins.

Thanks to all with the help on the customizing info. Brian sent me all the files I needed. My thanks to him, also.

Now the only problem (What, another one?  Sad ) Is there anything on the color problems between PaintShop Pro and  Windows Vista .  Every time I start PSP in Vista, the colors change.  May not be any help on that, though.. Probably just a qurik with Vista.

Again, thanks

I need a stock that has "Fat WR's are welcome" carved into it, for the remainder of this weeks hunt.

Can try to do that, but need to know which particular stock is needed (shotgun, rifle, etc). Don't know  if I can do one that fast. I'm kinda new at this stuff, "know whut I mean, Vern" LOL  Can get started on the wording, though....

Lots 'o luck to one and all. Smile
