Hullo fellow swivel chair hunters.
I see that the first of my  New Zealand maps for DH 2005 has been entered in the downloads section. It should be quite different to anthing you have seen before.

Titled Kaingaroa Forest  (Ky-anger-roar ...for those who have trouble pronouncing Maori place names) it is set among the plantations of the largest man made forest in the Southern Hemisphere.

I sent in another today for approval so watch this space.

Cheers

Dan

I am uploading it to the server right now.  It is a beautiful map.  Nice job.  I did see one thing kind of funny tho and it has nothing to do with you.  I actually saw a goose swimming up one of the rapids. Laughing

PS

To Magnum1973. re goose swimming up the waterfall.

Down here in New Zealand we are nearly at the bottom of the world.  In relation to you who are in the Northern hemisphere
New Zealand is Upside down!!

AsDeer hunter 2004 map editor Documentation advises, So the bottom is in fact the top, and the top is the bottom(sigh) Confused

Perhaps I should have vertically flipped the spk file before sending it up to you. Then the goose would have been seen to be in fact swimming down the waterfall. Which would not be so strange after all. Laughing  Laughing

Beautiful maps dude!!!
I wish my maps were as elaborate as yours.
I just don't have the know how or patience. lol
Both maps on my low end computer had low fps rates though.  Sad
The Whitetail map had a bit of lag even on low settings.
Keep up the great work & try to keep us poor low end computer owners in mind.  Smile

Do you have the level editor installed.  Looks like it is not reading the vapor particle file.  this usually happens because the editor or sample level is not installed.

Sorry about the lag in the map.
Im building on a 2.4GHZ Dual core  2gb ram with Vista, and I check them on my 3.1 GHZ igb ram XP laptop, and if I get them lagging there I know Im in trouble.
The Dual core set up gives me great in game definition  But I am aware of problems with FPS and I try to build to min 30fps on the high setting.
I run a 2gb paging file on both computors
If you can afford to upgrade your ram or even increase your paging file size it may help.
When I run some of the original maps that came with the game i can sometimes get 70 or 80 FPS but I cant figure out how the hell they did it.
Looking at outriders log  file i would say the sample level is missing because thats where the vapour file is .

I want to make sure that you know that I wasn't complaining.
I just need a new dual core computer. This thing is a dinosaur. lol
It's a 5 year old Walmart special,Compaq XP SP3 w/ 2.53ghz Celeron processor.
I have plenty of RAM (1.24ghz) it was just 256mbs & while the game is running I still have over half of it unused.
My video card is almost as old. (ATI 9200 128mb)
I'm trying to save for a new computer but with back & other medical problems & no job it's not easy.
I tried to avoid getting stuck in the SSI disability rut by trying to work when I could & now I'm not eligible because I don't have enough work credits because of the time gaps between jobs.
I need a winning lottery ticket or a sugar momma. LMAO

Close, the Presario SR1103WM  The cheapest one Wally World had. lol
I bumped up the RAM, added a the ATI 9200,a DVD/RW & an external HD.
I was working then.........
The monitor, mouse & key board are good,I just need a tower.
If I tried to upgrade this old thing it would cost me almost as much as a new computer.
It has the old PCI slots which I could get a vid card for but I'd need a 300 watt power supply to use it.
The hard part & my main problem is upgrading the processor, it's a 478 pin.
Also this old HD could crap out any time.
