Sorry to say I won't be competing in the top gun hunt, but my poor old computer can't handle the vegetation in Dan's map this week. Hate to be eliminated for technical reasons but the best I can get out of the map (on low) is 5 fps no matter where I go on the map I can't even move.

doesn't seem fair Jimbo   Sad  maybe you could get Dan to send you another less dense Malaysian Marsh , as a map maker you know
if he don't change the map profile the .spk file would remain the same .   Talk to Misty maybe something can be worked out , I hate to
see you drop because of that.   Crying or Very sad

Sound like there is a bit of a problem there.
Unfortunately I have no Knowledge of which maps Misty is going to use at any time.
The maps I am making these days will be targetted for those with modern computers, and designed to give detailed graphics in the ultra range, but I use a lot more dynamic objects so that turning down the settings will make them playable on older models.
The only thing I can think may help is to turn back the tree density and veiw distance sliders in the vid settings and to set your computer to 'performance' in the system graphics settings.
We have two older XP coms in the house and I usually run my new maps on them with settings at medium To get some idea of how they will go.
Unfortunately I dont do it every time .. and this happened to be one of them.

I can only suggest some negotiation with Misty may resolve the issue to everyones satisfaction.

Not Misty's fault nor Dan's, just one of those things that happen when you run an old computer. At least I know when I make a map on my old pc it should run lightning fast on everyone else's

Don't give up yet if you haven't tried this.......    Set  your video mode manually  to 16 bit  and your exact monitor resolution.... texture bits to 16....   water reflection to low...... set all other settings to high....  APPLY button......    Check game......    If still running slow...... set all other settings to medium......APPLY button.... check game....  if still running slow .... set all other setting to low ..... APPLY button...... Check game.......     I used to do this with windows XP to make a map work to get 15  to 20 fps  from lagging out with lots of dynamic objects....    Just playable  but playable.   Hope this helps..........
