I would love to make some custom models as well. However, I believe the only way that I've found is to use 3DS Max 5 and use a plugin called JBCTools to export your model as a .j3d model.

There are a few problems with this:
1. 3DS Max 5 is expensive
2. 3DS Max 5 does not run on Win7 or Win8 (not sure about Vista)

I've tried searching several times for a workaround for say Blender or some other 3D modeling software, but I can't seem to find any info anywhere about .j3d models and how to export to that format. If anyone knows more about this, I would love to hear some info too!  Very Happy

It is true that 3dmax five will only run on XP.
It is also true that Dh2005 models can only be made/converted with 3dsmax5.

You can open models made with other programs and then convert and repack with 3dsmax5.
jimbo will be able to confirm .. I think the unpacker is a FREE program called 'rhino'
available here.

If you are keen. the complete set of tools for 3dsmax5 are on my google drive.

Here is a bit of info on Windows 7 pro.    3ds max 5.1 will run under XP MODE  & virtual drive.  You have to install max 5  while in XP mode.  Then put  c-dilla update 3.27 from discreet  (download).    Then restart XP mode (reboot) not windows 7.  start max 5 and authorise  with your code.  She runs like a charm.     I'm a little rusty with it though, but I do like making custom models sometimes. 2 years ago....Lol           hope this helps...GAS56 Laughing

yea. it'd be nice if win7 would run 16 bit programs (CDilla authorization is 16 bit).  Like Gas56 said, you can run it on win 7 but you need the PRO version to get virtual drive otherwise you have no choice but to run it on XP.  I imagine you could find a cheap XP PC at a computer repair shop though.

Thanks for the responses. I'm running Win7 Ultimate and was able to get XP Mode up and running. I haven't installed it yet, but was planning on doing that this week when I get some free time. I'll keep you posted. Thanks!
