So I've read through the forums here which has been more than helpful, and I've completed both the tutorial here and the one with the editor without too much trouble. I finally got my terrain textured the way I want and I go to add trees using the random/auto object tool and I can not for the life of me get my trees to show up. I used the same settings that are with the tutorial with and without restrictions and when I click apply, I get the pop-up box stating that it has been applied so I click OK. When I click it, the window disappears and I'm staring at my barren landscape. Any ideas? :x
I was using the 3 ponderosa models with 1-1.2 size variation and -0.05 to 0 on the Y randomization. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The first thing that you want to do is make sure that you are adding enough trees. If you are only adding 100 trees, they will be very difficult to find on a normal sized map. Try starting at 1000 or 1500 and see if you can see any trees.
The second thing is, make sure you are not adding too many trees. If you try to add too many trees at once, all of your objects tend to disappear. If this happens, it becomes difficult to salvage the map, so it is always a good idea to save a separate copy of you map before adding any objects. The most objects that can be placed in a map at the same time is 80000. There is a way to add more objects than this on the map, however, this can be difficult and it slows down the frame rates.

Thanks for the tips! After about an hour of searching forums and restarting the editor and my computer, it magically worked! So not sure what was actually causing the problem...
Now the next thing I'm stuck on, is adding a separate different types of trees randomly without moving the ones I already shifted around and deleted. Is that possible?

FYI, next to a woman, the SLS editor is the most unstable thing on the planet. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, save your map often. I would even make a copy of it now and then and save it on the desktop. This way if you mess up or if you can't open the map, you will have a copy to go back to.

Great advice, thank you. I will be backing up my project as soon as I post here now that I have the landscape where I want it. I've only been married for 2 years and I would have to agree with every word.
