Welcome back.
We have made a few changes to the way we play the game.

Once you get your game installed and up and running with the 1.2 patch, you will need to add in the Hybrid patch to be able to play the majority of new maps we hunt.
It does not affect the ability to play the standard maps but you cant play the hybrid maps without it.
Hybrid maps are a combination of the DH2004 and DH2005 vegetation models which allows map makers the ability to make richer and more realistic environments. It does not change the size or numbers of animals from the standard dh2005 game.

Both the 1.2 and hybrid patches are available in the download section. Click on files at the top of the page next to Forum.
The hybrid patch is self installing provided you have installed your game to the standard C drive configuration.
If you have installed it anywhere else you will have to redirect the install .. or contact me for instructions.

Competitions are now two weekly hunts and rules of engagement are here.

if you need any help just ask here in your post.

Have fun.

Die ... Schwarzwald...rogen,,,jagd

"The...BlackForest... RoeDeer...Hunt."

Very efficient the German People. Never use three words if one will do.

Hoping Ron gets stuck at the Bar in the village knocking back Steins, and gives you other hunters a clear run.

For some reason the voice advice for private messages does not seem to be working for me any more.
It seemed to have stopped working about three weeks ago and I missed answering three Pms when they came in because I didnt know they were there.
Im not sure if it just a problem I am having or if it is a general problem with the site.

If any one else is experiencing this, or if there is a setting on my site controls that I need to check , could you please let me know.

Look's like the best way to win is to build a map and hide the deer where Ron can't find them.
time Semi got in on the act and sent me another map as well,

Hey Miriam
Had a surf through the Arches and Bryce canyon, certainly some interesting formations there.
Looks more like something Jimbo might attempt, as there would need to be several custom rock formations built to bring it to life.
Specifically the arches.
Unfortunately custom rock formation models are beyond my level of competence, and I dont have any models that would be suitable.

But who knows, we might be able to twist Jimbo's arm hard enough to make him cry "Uncle".

The rest of the vegetation and ground objects would be available in the standard editor objects.
And we do have plenty of Mule Deer.

Im at a loss. Run out of Ideas for the next map.
I've done just about every state in  the US, done Russia, Canada, Alaska, China, England, Holland, Switzerland, New Zealand and Australia.

Anyone have any Ideas for a Country, County or other Locale that would offer a great prospect for a new map.
Ive done Maps on request in the past, and we can use Google maps for the exact terrain of specific locations, along with some photographic references and personal input on locale conditions , this has resulted in succesfull outcomes for several maps.

So dont be shy. Give us a shout and I will look into any request I feel can be managed.

PostForum: Deer Hunter 2005 Map Making   Posted: Sun Jun 04, 2017 6:22 pm   Subject: Re: Windows 7 and DH2005 Map Editor
I do believe I have finally solved the dreaded extra character bug that has been causing
problems for many of our map makers, and that has resulted in many giving up on their
map making efforts.

Specifically it is a conflict between the editor and the apple softwares.
particularly I believe, to do with the predictive text system on phones and tablets.

With Win8 and Win10 and with some Win7 Operating Systems the apple i tunes and its
accompanying software is pre-installed as part of the basic O.S .system.

My Win7 O.S. did not come with Apple programs, but because I have a tablet I downloaded
I tunes and its sister programs along with Syncios in order to be able to move files and
Apps between the storage cards on the tablet. Even with an android system i tunes is
required along with a file manager to do this,( by connecting the tablet to a computer to
move the files fron one storage card to another within the tablets system ).

After installing the apple software I started having the extra character bug while trying
to load objects in the DH2005 editor file browser. Up untill then my editor had been running fine.

The solution was not immediately obvious to me, as I did not attempt to make a map for
almost a month after the install but after struggling through two subsequent maps, using the
tricks I had developed in Win10 ( Unfortunately they dont work every time )
I decided to look back and see what programs I had installed that might have caused the problem.

Between the date of the last succesful run with the editor and when the problen started I found
only the Apple software had been installed.

So in a fit of rage and frustration I ripped out anything with Apple inc as publisher, from my
progams and features list.

And now my DH2005 Editor is running perfectly again. ( I.E. as well as any DH2005 editor will
ever run anyway ).

So, If you are having or had this problem with your DH2005 editor you might try this solution.
You could try uninstalling each apple product separately to find out if it is specifically one
of their 4 programs, but honestly, who cares, who needs Apple software on a win computer anyway.

Uninstall instructions here

Works For me.
