Guys, this is the Blue Heron's wife, who wants to let you know that the Blue Heron went to be home with the Lord Mar 24, 2011, peacefully in his sleep. This was not expected--he was home with another illness and apparently more was wrong than we knew. He enjoyed this site and the maps (I played the Mars Map with him, what a crazy map!) and he will be missed terribly. The site and the Deer Hunter game were very much fun for him while he was home a full year with his illness. He enjoyed this site so much. Thanks for comforting him--I appreciate it.

Joanna (I wanted the handle Red Heron but he deplored the pun.)

If there is a discrepancy between the DHT file and the screenshot, which one wins?

screenshot shows 65.858 - DHT file in Trophy Viewer shows 65.853

DHT blows a two-pair screenshot entry.  Normally, a few thousandths are not worth worrying about but in a Poker Hunt, it could mean losing some overall points.

The hunt rules state 'CHECK YOUR DHT's'.  I know to submit both, but are the DHT's the tie-breaker?

I concur with Joe_Slayer.  Use the direct download links Joe Slayer provided.  Download and SAVE (don't choose 'Run' or 'Open') the complete SP1 for your OS (64-bit or 32-bit), then install it from that file on your PC.  In general, using Windows Update for small updates is OK, but a ~1GB service pack is enormous.  If the download hangs, you can resume it, but if a Windows Update hangs, there can be problems, particularly if using dial-up or a slow net connection.  I updated 2 PC's today (1 32-bit; 1 64-bit) with no problems using this method.  Took less than 30 minutes.

TK, I'll be glad to help you if there is anything I can do.  Send me a PM if you want.

I concur with Jimbo and Dave - 100 yard max, regardless of caliber.  Also, as Dave mentioned, it is really a fine line to get exactly 100 yds.  One foot shuffle either way and the shot is either 99 yards or not counted at all (i.e., the gun 'fires', the deer hear it and scatter, but no 'projectile' gets fired at the target).  The target range is a must to figure it all out with the handguns.
